Heart Sachet

Here is a quick project that I made this morning. Not much to craft this weekend - work had to take priority. :(
I first cut a heart shape out - traced something I had lying around my craft room - on muslin. I chose a loose weave muslin so that the potpourri smell might be stronger. I sewed the heart together (leaving a little bit open on the side for the potpourri) and added lace trim and some ribbon to the top for a hanger. I stamped Damask Background by The Angel Company (tm) using Bordeaux Palette ink and "love" onto a little swatch of muslin that I stitched around and frayed the edges.  I attached the saying using some adhesive and added the little bow made from Scrapper's Floss. I then distressed it using some Burnt Umber Palette ink and a sponge. Last - added some yummy pecan vanilla potpourri and stitched the opening close. Yummy!

Embossed Velvet Tutorial

Hi! Back again with another tutorial. I had a good time putting the last one together - so thought that I would give it another shot. This one is how to create embossed velvet using a rubber stamp, iron and rayon velvet. My lovely friend Holly hosted a technique challenge for "angels" (The Angel Company demonstrators) this past fall and my technique was embossed velvet. I love this technique! Here is the card that I created for the swap. Notice the detail in the black from the stamp image embossed into it. I also used cotton velvet (white heart) and stamps the image using Momento Tuxedo Black - as well for the saying.

Like it? So here is how to do it!
Set a DRY iron on cotton setting.

Spritz the wrong side of the RAYON velvet with water - lightly spritz.

Place the velvet wrong side up on top of the rubber stamp.

Place the iron straight down onto the velvet. Lightly move the iron for about 30 seconds. Lift the iron straight up off of the velvet. Let cool for a few seconds.

Remove the velvet from the stamp. Voila!
The velvet will fray like crazy. I use Fray Check around the edges to help stop this. Cutting with pinking shears will help too.

Another Valentine

Saturday was soo productive! Here is another Valentine! Stamp is another gift with purchase stamp from The Angel Company. I cut the heart with Hearts 1 - Sizzix. The scallop trim is a Fiskars edge punch. Colored with Copics. I added a bit of red Stickles after the fact. Gotta have glitter!!! This was another fairly quick one. Not a lot of fuss. The ribbon is floral ribbon from Hobby Lobby. I love this stuff. It is stiffer than most regular ribbons and the bow stays in place. Makes awesome bows. Good price too! I wish we had a Hobby Lobby here - maybe not... one more craft store could be dangerous! lol
Have a fantastic Monday!

Crochet Hearts

I am really getting into the Valentine's mode here! I learned how to crochet hearts over the weekend - how much fun!!!!! First, here is a photo tutorial. There are tons of videos on YouTube as well. I watched a couple and came up with my heart pattern.Make your beginning loop and crochet 6 chains.Insert hook into chain next to hook and single crochet. Repeat this 4 additional times, so that you have completed 5 single crochets back down the chain.
Chain one and turn. Complete 5 single crochet. Chain one and turn. Repeat this step three more times so that you have completed 5 rows of 5 single crochet. Now you are going to work down the left side of the block. Turn block so that you will be working on the left side and insert needle into center of the side. Just kind of pick a spot - that is in the center. There aren't really any chain tops to use because this is a side. *Note - you will be completing a double crochet for your first stitch, so be sure to wrap the yarn around your hook one time before inserting the hook into the side of the block (not shown correctly in photo - I forgot to wrap the thread)
Complete this pattern: double crochet, chain one six times. This is creating the right top part of the heart.
Next slip stitch into the end stitch of this same side so to have an anchor for this part of the heart. Next is to turn the heart a quarter turn to the right - working on the left side. Insert hook into the third chain and complete the pattern six times (double crochet, single crochet)
Slip stitch into the last stitch on the end to anchor this left top part of the heart. To finish, cut a tail and pull the tail through the remaining loop on the hook. Pull snug.
I am having a ton of fun making these little guys! This one finished size is about 2" tall.
And now a project...
Here is a card that I made using stamps from The Angel Company (tm) and a tiny 1" heart. I stamped the background and distressed the paper using in and my new favorite too - this little pink Zutter Distrezz-it-all.
Close up of the crochet heart.
Wow! That had to be my longest post - ever!!!!! Hope you enjoyed it!

One Layer Wonders Challenge

The Angel Company (tm) has paper crafting community site - theangelcompany.ning.com
There was a challenge awhile ago for a one layer card. I came up with this super quick card. It is very simple, but cute (I think) just the same. The elephants are a gift with purchase stamp from the The Angel Company's Fall Supplement. Which until the end of the month gift with purchase stamp rewards are tripled!!!! THREE FREE gift with purchase stamps with a $30 purchase!
So - with the card. The elephants were colored with Copics and a touch of Stickles was added to the hearts. I tried using Liquid Pearls to make a border- some of them kind of got smooshed... but I thought that it added some cute border detail. The Love U sentiment is from a different gift with purchase stamp. Getting ready for Valentine's Day - it is just around the corner!

Penguins!

Back again - that was fast!
Have another card to share. This is one that we made at a Christmas card stamp-a-stack I hosted back in November. Another distressed flower! Sorry for the poor photo quality. This was taken with my old iphone. The distressed flower was made using DCWV cardstock. I wanted to try the flower with a white core paper to see how it would turn out. I also used Shimmer Mist instead of water to wet the paper to aid in distressing. The penguin stamp and saying are a set from The Angel Company (TM) - fall supplement. I think it is sooo cute! It would make a cute Valentine too, don't you think! The shape is a label die from Spellbinders. I have really been into black, red and white lately.
Thanks for stopping by!

4x4 Cards

Hello! Well, it has warmed up a bit here - finally. Still below zero, but tolerable.
Today's post is of a couple of cards - they are the same - with a bit of a different flower on each. The one to the left is a button embellishment I had on hand and the red flowers are extras from a flower I took apart. The one to the right is a distressed flower sprayed with Shimmer Mist. I am having so much fun making these! The stamp saying is from The Angel Company (TM) and the paper is from a mini pack by Jenni Bowlin. I LOVE the red damask print.
Enjoy your weekend!!!

A Couple to Share...

Still a few to post that I made over the holidays. This week was CRAZY going back to work - so not a lot of time to play since I worked late almost every night. Hopefully today will be productive! :)
These two cards were made with scraps from some paper I was holding onto because I loved it so much - by The Paper Company. I believe that I received the words in a ScrapGoods kit years ago. Finally used them! What a great feeling when digging in the stash and finding lost treasures. LOL The letters are actually see through - I just backed them with paper.
I also have been working on my Etsy store - I have sold a table runner - I was sooo excited!!! I have three items listed - two table runner quilts and a handmade card. Hope to list more over the weekend. I am listed as Stampcandy in Etsy if you want to take a peak! :) One of the mini quilts is actually a checkerboard. It is really cute. Comes with big buttons for the checker pieces. Great for travel.
Enjoy your weekend! I know I will - despite the -25 below zero weather outside.

More to Share!

I tell you - it was so nice to be able to spend some time in my craft room over the holidays! I even went over to my friend Darci's one night and scrapbooked! Haven't done that for ever!
Here are a couple more cards to share! These images are from Simply Betty. Lovin' Simply Betty digis!!! The paper is some really old Doodlebug that I dug out of my extra large paper pile (ok, there are multiple paper piles! ROFL) The little snowflakes are a My Favorite Things die. And the trees are from Spellbinders dies. The large snowflake is a Sizzix. Greeting - The Angel Company. The girls were colored with Copics. And don't forget the Stickles!
Off to finish create! I think that I am going to try (for a first time) a SFYTT sketch today and I have stamps to cut. Something about cutting new stamps...
Have a great day!

Cards to Share!

Thought that I would share some of the cards that I made over the holidays. I have posted a number of them on Facebook - but just in case. :) Here is the first one!

This card uses a stamp from The Angel Company, a Tim Holtz embossing folder, Memory Makes Blossoms & Buttons, DCWV CS, and the image is colored with Copics. I was trying to achieve the color change using blending with drastic colors. I really do like how it turned out. Stay tuned for more!

Etsy Shop!

I officially openend my Etsy shop today! Shopped on Etsy a few times - great products! Now I thought that I would try my hand at sharing some of my crafty items. :)
I have three mini quilts/table runners listed. Here is the link to my stampcandy Esty shop!
Check it out -- never know... might be something that would look just lovely in your home. ;)
